Richmond is the easiest city in the region to deliver into and the hardest to guess quantities for. Easy because it is flat, the roads are wide and almost every venue has somewhere a truck can actually stop. Hard because the events here run to extremes: an airport hotel conference wanting sixteen posts, then a summer market wanting a perimeter measured in hundreds of feet.

The airport strip is its own category. Hotels along there handle arrivals at hours nothing else does. A queue that forms at six in the morning wants belt posts rather than anything decorative — nobody is photographing it and it has to be re-cut as check-in desks open.

The summer season is the other half of the year here. Outdoor markets and festival sites on reclaimed flat ground are exactly where steel barriers beat posts: wind comes off the water with nothing to stop it — and a line of belt stanchions will not hold a crowd that is leaning on it.

Book earlier for anything falling in the market season than you would for a corporate date in February. It is the one period where availability, rather than logistics, is what decides your answer.

Steveston, Bridgeport, City Centre and the Fraserport industrial area are all inside the usual run.
