Rope Stanchions Across British Columbia

A weighted post standing 89 cm to the ball on top, with a 5 ft velvet rope clipped between it and the next one. It marks a route that is meant to stay where it was put.

Three Finishes

  • Black: asks least of the room. The one venues keep for repeat work.
  • Silver: the neutral. It also holds its colour in daylight.
  • Gold: for arrivals, where the line itself is being photographed.

Rope

The rope is the decision, not the post. Sixteen colours, carabiner at each end, so a span comes off in seconds and a marked one is swapped without tools — the range is on the velvet rope page.

Rope or Belt?

Rope for a fixed route that looks considered. If the line has to be re-cut while people are standing in it, belt stanchions are the tool: unhooking velvet and carrying it away takes two hands and a walk.
