Penticton runs on festivals and sporting events to a degree that sets it apart from the rest of the Okanagan. Between the two lakes the town hosts road events, endurance racing, beach festivals and street occasions. Every one of those is about holding a public crowd rather than dressing an entrance.

That points the order in one direction. Route lines, finish areas, closed streets and stages want barriers rather than posts — and the quantities are measured in length rather than in items.

The wedding and winery work exists as well and behaves like the rest of the valley — rope, warm finishes, summer Saturdays booked far ahead. Both halves of the calendar are worth booking early for different reasons.

Wind along the lakes is a genuine factor for anything outdoors. Beach ground is the least forgiving surface there is for a weighted base. Say if a run is on sand and we will plan for it.

The route in is the same mountain drive as the rest of the Okanagan, with the same winter caveat. Summerland and Naramata are within the run.
